Platanos Fritos
Buy plaintains (green banana looking things). The more yellow they are the more sweet they will be. Yum! If green they will be more like potato chips which is also good. It's up to you, what you like.
Get a skillet full of hot oil. Slice platanos into oil. If doing green platanos, fry in oil, turning over to get both sides until half done (barely browning). Take out of the oil and smash each one with a good hit and then return to the oil until crisp. Remove and salt.
If platanos are more yellow and ripe, slice into oil, turning to cook both sides until they are a darker yellow and have darkened around the edges. Pull our and serve hot. These two varieties are served on the side of a meal and are delicious!
