*see recipe for seasoned ground beef
Fry Bread:
2 c. flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt (scant)
1 c. milk
4 c. oil for frying, or as needed
Makes 8-12 balls. Knead at least 5 minutes. Rest 5 minutes. Press or roll out. Serve with taco stuff or just top with sugar and/or honey.
Whole Wheat Fry Bread:
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. white
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt (scant)
1 c. milk
1/2 c. pumpkin (only if this if for breakfast fry bread)
Makes 8-12 balls. Knead at least 5 minutes. Rest 5 minutes. Press or roll out. Serve with taco stuff or just top with sugar and/or honey.
Serve with taco meat, beans, cheese, sour cream, tomato salad (pictured), salsa, avocado, etc. You can pile it all on the fry bread and pick up to eat, or you can pile it on your plate and use the fry bread to scoop it up. Tear off pieces if it helps. The kids like it all deconstructed (separate).
