Marinara Meatballs Sliders w/ Mozzarella
1/2-1 bag of Italian flavored
croutons, crushed completely
½-1 yellow or white onion, diced finely
2 cloves garlic, minced finely
1-2 lb ground beef
salt and pepper to taste
1 egg plus ½ cup water
slider buns, or sub buns
mozzarella or provolone cheese slices (or grated Parmesan)
1-2 large jars of your favorite marinara sauce (sweeter flavor tastes good)
Combine ground beef with crushed croutons, onion, salt, pepper, egg and water. Form balls and brown in a skillet on at least two sides. Meatballs don’t need to be cooked through, just brown nicely. Add meatballs to the crockpot/Instapot when browned and cover with the marinara sauce and cook on low 4-8 hours (or pressure cook for 20 minutes or so). Place cheese on buns and spoon the meatball and marinara sauce over it. Enjoy!!! It will be messy- eat with a fork if you like.
*For a healthy alternative, serve hot meatballs over
freshly grated zucchini for “noodles”.
