Our Favorite Immune Boost Smoothie
In the summer if we have a lot of kale from the garden, I chop it, wash it, and dip it in boiling water for a minute. Then drain and let cool and freeze in smoothie size amounts.
Easy Immune Boost Shake- from the Redd's
Big handful of washed spinach, kale, or parsley
1 can of pineapple with it's natural juice
1 tray of ice cubes
Blend together until there are no chunks and drink
immediately. Serves 2. Quite good.
And here is the parsley in it. I just wanted to show you that everything's the same except I used mixed berries so that it turns this color. But you can see the little green flecks!
Shakes with plain yogurt and lots of fruit are good also.
Like our favorite:
2 c. milk
2 c. plain yogurt
1-2 c. frozen raspberries, peaches, mango, or other berries
sugar or honey to taste
Blend well. Serves 4
glasses.
1 can pineapple in pineapple juice (not syrup)
very large handful of kale, parsley, or spinach, washed
tray of ice cubes
juice from half a lemon
scoop of plain yogurt, or bit of almond milk (optional)
banana or frozen berries (optional)
flaxseeds and/or chia seeds (optional and don’t add until after it’s in your cup or it will just stick to the sides of the blender)
Puree in blender and serve. You only have to do the first 3 ingredients, but it’s all good. Makes about 6 cups. We all love this, and it’s a great way to get your greens and lots of fiber. Another option is to do 2 cups of almond milk, instead of the pineapple, but then make sure you have bananas to sweeten it.
